Azhar Filmmakers Trying To Include Real Sting Operation
Updated : May 10, 2016 03:48 PM IST The sting operation that exposed several cricketers back in 2000 for their involvement in the match fixing scandal might once again come to life, this time on the big screen. The filmmakers of ‘Azhar’ are trying to include glimpses of the real operation in their film that showcases the life of Mohammad Azharuddin. They are trying to come up with the best legal route to do so.
“We have recreated the sting operation in the film from the footage that is available. But we’re trying to get our legal team to figure out the process to insert parts of the real recording in the film. Let’s see if the footage makes it to the big screen. Otherwise, the makers will have to rely on the recreated footage”, director Tony D’Souza stated.
The clips, if the filmmakers get clearance, will definitely make the film more authentic. ‘Azhar’ has Emraan Hashmi play the role of former Indian cricket captain Azharuddin. Prachi Desai plays his first wife Naureen while Nargis Fakhri essays the role of his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani.
