B.O REPORT: Finding Fanny dominates while Creature 3D surprises

There has been no box office upset as both the new releases performed as per expectations over the weekend. If there was any surprise that the trade saw was Creature 3D performing quite better in mass centres. If you had given a 10 crore opening weekend to Vikram Bhatt before the release of the film, he would have taken it with both hands. With the numbers coming in, the film has garnered 11.56 crores in its opening weekend.

While the box office showed much respect to Finding Fanny taking its weekend collection to nearly 20 crores, the mass centres didn’t disappoint Creature 3D either. The word of mouth for the Homi Adajania directed Finding Fanny was mostly positive which encouraged a significant growth, post its opening day. While Friday witnessed slightly over 5 crores going in its kitty, Saturday and Sunday both ranged over 7 crores. It is a given fact that film’s foremost collections are coming from urban centres and multiplexes since it is made in English and doesn’t carry the formula of commercial approach. Considering the cost and genre of the movie, the makers would not be too disappointing with the result only if the film continues to perform well.

On the other hand, Bipasha Basu starrer Creature 3D opened to 3 crore plus on Friday and showed a slight growth over the weekend. Though flogged with poor reviews and lacklustre reports, the film still saw a considerable footfall at mass centres. The film may also end up being a positive prospect for the producers if the current trend is sustained which appears a little tough. For the moment, there are two different choices available for the audiences at the cinemas right now. It’s for them to decide.
