B.O. Update: Ungli starts slow, Zid surprises

Rensil D’Silva’s Ungli that released today has opened to a below average occupancy across the country. While the much delayed film has quite a star cast to flash, the initial response hasn’t been too encouraging.

Ungli mostly received mixed reviews with some being extremely gracious while others quite disturbing. The unsettling class of the film has hampered in its start and the overall opening figure may stay low. Although the word of mouth may come into play here as a booster for the film only if its good. Since the box office has mostly stayed dry for a while, Ungli had a good chance to cater upon this.

On the other hand, promotionally brought up as an erotic thriller ‘Zid’ has opened quite well at mass areas. The genre has widely been successful at mass centres and this film may well work on those angles. The credit dispute with the director Vivek Agnihotri pulling out of the film citing creative differences has also been one controversy attached to the film. Let’s examine how the following days fold up.
