Bollywood requires originality to shine globally, says Anupam Kher

After stealing the show inSpecial 26, the versatile Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has expressed his concern over the fact that Indian movies lack originality.

The 57-year- old renowned actor is in very high spirits as his Hollywood flick with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper,Silver Linings Playbookhasbeen appreciatedby people all around and even won honours at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Critics' Choice Awards. The only thing bothering him is that very few Indian movies make it to the international platform like the Oscars. In an interview with IANS, the actor stated that "It is sad that we needed Richard Attenborough to makeGandhiand win eight Oscars. It is important to have a certain kind of originality."

Kher, who performed in international movies likeSilver Linings Playbook, Lust?, Bride and Prejudice, Conquest, Bend It Like BeckhamandYou Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, said that "We need to make movies, which come out of our own land, our issues, our problems, our celebrations. However, now it is in a transition phase and we see that happening. Let us all hope for good. It is very difficult to please 1.2 billion people. I am optimistic that we will manage to do that."
