Bombay Velvet descends, one big failure of the year

What we may anticipate as one of the biggest let down of the year, Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet with all certainty has failed at the box office big time. The film after a mediocre opening day didn’t see any growth whatsoever and ended its opening weekend with below average figures.

While this was being already predicted by a certain section of viewers and pundits, a large portion of audience and critics had faith in Anurag’s ability. However, Bombay Velvet is an experiment gone completely wrong. The Ranbir-Anushka starrer opened to 5.20 crores on Friday and then was downhill from there. Sunday however was slightly better. The opening weekend figures of the film stood at 16 crores, which is way below par.

While there could be a number of reasons attributing to film’s failure, the study would follow up in days to come. Piku meanwhile was even better than Bombay Velvet in its second weekend and is declared a major hit. At the moment, let’s give team Bombay Velvet some time to cope up.
