Box Office: Mr X mints 14 crores, Margarita With A Straw impresses

Emraan Hashmi’s latest invisible box office outing didn’t really get the kind of reception he would have hoped for. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, Mr X managed to rake in about 14 crores at the box office in its opening weekend. Considering the overall impact, the collections aren’t very impressive.

Having come up with an interesting theme, while the makers were counting on Hashmi’s massy popularity, the opening weekend numbers didn’t make a major jump and remained pretty much constant. The film collected 4.50 crores on Friday, 4.39 crores on Saturday and 5.10 crores on Sunday. With a lot of previous Hashmi releases doing better business than this, Mr X is yet to pass the verdict test. The film will have to perform steady on the weekdays and rake in at least 25-28 crores by the end of week one.

One the other hand, Kalki Koechlin starrer much talked about Margarita With A Straw managed to impress the audience big time. Directed by Shonali Bose, the film multiplied its weekend figures showcasing a scenario of word of mouth gainer. The film collected 50 lacs, 72 lacs and 90 lacs in the three opening days and has a total of 2.12 crores in its kitty. For such a film having covered the numbers impressively, the signs are bright for the future.
