CBFC to HC: ‘Rahasya’ a fiction, not based on Aarushi-Hemraj murder case

Director-writer Manish Gupta’s third flick Rahasya, as director has cleared the red signal shown by the Bombay high court on Tuesday. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) stated to the Bombay high court in response to the allegation of resemblance of Rahasya to Aarushi-Hemraj murder case that the flick is based on fiction. CBFC cleared that the characters have no similarity to Nupur and Rajesh Talwar, who are right now serving life sentence for their daughter Aarushi and servant Hemraj’s murder in 2008.

Talwars were willing to seek stay on the film, as per them, the movie will present ‘distorted facts surrounding the gruesome death’ of Aarushi. Film Board argued on the same, "The film 'Rahasya' is a work of fiction. The film has a disclaimer in the beginning that it is based on fiction and bears no resemblance to any person dead or alive." It further narrated the story saying that Rahasya is about a 18-year-old Mumbai girl, who gets murdered. He continued saying, The father of the girl is arrested but released on bail and then acquitted. Soon after that, he too gets murdered. This is hardly the case with Dr Rajesh Talwar, who is still very much alive and in detention."

Talwars’ lawyer mentioned from their side if all this is true, then they have no objection, but they demand a private screening, "We would still request the producers of the movie to arrange for a private screening of the film for at least one member of the family." Producer UVI Films Production Ltd. of the flick hasn’t declared anything yet in response and is seeking time till March 10. The film stars Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mita Vashisht and Ashwini Kalsekar in main parts. The release date is not yet set.
