THE CLEPT STORY: Detective Byomkesh Bakshi star Swastika Mukherjee accused of shoplifting in Singapore

Actress Swastika Mukherjee is all set to make her career in Bollywood with Dibakar Banerjee’s detective Byomkesh Bakshi opposite actor Sushant Singh Rajput. However, in a shocking case, the actress has been caught stealing gold earrings at a boutique in Singapore, just before the release of her debut movie.

The actress was in Singapore to attend the Bengali Film Festival-Darpan. She apparently went to a jewellery store, where she was accused of shoplifting. The boutique owner, Apsara Oswal howeve,r informed the Darpan Film Festival authorities and did not involve police in the entire matter.

"Our CCTV cameras have caught her lifting the piece of jewellery and then putting it in her handbag. She hasn't paid for it. We have already appealed to her to pay for the item as it costs $250. We are waiting for a response from her. We don't want to make a hue and cry about it. We just want her to return our jewellery to us if she doesn't wish to buy it," Oswal says.

Justifying herself actress Swastika says, "I don't know how it got into my bag. Perhaps, it was by accident. But I bought jewellery from the store and have got receipts for other items." However, the actress has reportedly agreed to pay the price for the earrings which ‘got into her bag.’
