Ek Villain has a Dream first week, New releases open slow
Updated : July 04, 2014 05:49 PM ISTNo release today looks strong enough to challenge the dream run Ek Villain is having at the box office. Both Bobby Jasoos and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil opened to a poor occupancy across the nation with movie goers giving them a cold shoulder.
Meanwhile Ek Villain ended the week one at a total it never would have thought of. After having collected 50+ crores in its opening weekend, the film added another 25+ and ended at 77 crores. Famous trade analyst Taran Adarsh who declared the film a big hit tweeted this morning “#EkVillain Wknd 50.70 cr, Mon 8.10 cr, Tue 6.80 cr, Wed 6.40 cr, Thu 5.20 cr. Total: ₹ 77.20 cr nett. 2nd HIGHEST Week 1 of 2014. SUPERB!”. The film’s collections are the second highest for first week after Jai Ho this year. Ek villain looks a solid entrant into the 100 crore club and may even emerge the highest grosser if it continues the current run. With Vidya Balan’s Bobby Jasoos not being able to earn rave reviews, it looks Ek Villain is going to remain the first choice of the audience. The other release starring newcomers Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’ is going for a dismal run at the box office. The initial reports reveal the film is stale and boring.
Balaji and team of Ek Villain must be elated with the money their movie is making. Let’s just now wait which film puts break on the dream run that it is enjoying, meanwhile audience are not left with many choices. Sad!
