Here's Why Alia Bhatt And Varun Dhawan’s 'Shhuddhi' Has Been Shelved!

It was expected that Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt will team up once again for Karan Johar’s big budget film ‘Shhuddhi’ but the movie has been put on the back burner. Now, Bollywoodlife has been able to point out three reasons why this might have happened. According to the portal, the project suffered from budget issues, Salman Khan’s departure and the Magadheera issue.

Apparently, the movie was asking for a lot more than the filmmakers had anticipated. Secondly, with the departure of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor from the project, Karan wanted to bring in Salman Khan for the same. He also made a Twitter announcement that said, “#SHHUDDHI will star SALMAN KHAN and will release Diwali 2016…..@shhuddhimovie”. Sadly, this could not work out because Salman’s fee was too much for the filmmakers.

The portal also stated that because of the apparent similarities between Shhuddhi and S S Rajamouli’s ‘Magadheera’, Rajamouli was quite skeptical about the project. The Telugu director then voiced his concerns to Karan, which became another reason for the project being shelved.
