Gattu awarded at Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles

New Delhi - Gattu, a film by the Childrens Film Society of India received two awards back-to-back at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. The movie is based on a small Indian town where everybody is obsessed with kite flying and shows the condition of street children as well. Director Rajan Khosa is very proud to receive the awards for such an issue-oriented movie and said, Gattu, played by Samad Mohammad, whose trust and love I received, was a natural kite flyer. In almost every small town in India, you see street kids, selling trinkets, playing pranks and begging. You ignore them, or you dole out a coin or two, but you and I know, they are far too smart to be wasted like this. These awards are only a tiny step towards the massive task of empowering street children in India, he added. Chairperson, Nandita Das of CFSI also commented, We are delighted with this double win, especially the Audience Award. That is really the true test of any film. An endearing story, when well told, will surely connect with everyone - whether you are six or 60.
