I had to go through a gruelling process to get this movie, reveals debutante Vaani Kapoor on Shuddh Desi Romance

A huge breakthrough is awaiting model-turned-actress Vaani Kapoor in the Hindi film industry who will be debuting as the second female lead in Aditya Chopra's Shudhh Desi Romance opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. While recalling the struggling days she reveals she had to undergo an exhausting phase to get the final nod from the Yash Raj banner.

After launching fresh faces like Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor and Sasha Aagha, YRF’s latest discovery is Vaani Kapoor, who will share Sushant’s love in the film with Parineeti, the other female lead in the September 6 release. Vaani was introduced to the media by Sushant when a new song from the film Gulabi was launched at an event. Vaani told reporters, "I had a tough time to get this movie. I had to do screen tests and auditions one after the other. I had to convince our director Maneesh to cast me. I had to go through a gruelling process to get this movie.”

Vaani also said that everything began when she came to Mumbai for a shoot and came to know about the role. She said further, "I went and met Shanoo Sharma (casting director for Yash Raj Films) who was looking to cast a newcomer for a film. She did not like my pictures. She asked me if I know anything about acting. She also made me dance for two hours. She did not seem impressed with me at all.” Delhi-based Vaani, who has been a model and a face behind many brands, also said, "I feel blessed to have met the right person at the right time.” We wish young Vaani good luck in her new journey.
