Irrfan Khan Rubbishes Rumours Of Leaving Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gustakhiyan’

After giving his voice to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Ranveer-Deepika starrer ‘Bajirao Manstani’ as a narrator, the filmmaker approached actor Irrfan Khan to play the lead in ‘Gustakhiyan’. The film is based on the love story of literary stalwarts Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam. A few days ago it was also reported that Priyanka Chopra would be playing the female lead. Rumours were also doing rounds that the actress might co-produce the flick as well.

Earlier in an interview with Mirror, Irrfan had said, “It's the role I have been waiting for a long time. It is well-researched and beautifully written. I can't wait to immerse myself into the character.” However, now the reports are surfacing the actor has walked out of the movie.

All these rumours made the star angry when he heard them. He said, "I'm not sure where these rumours are coming from. I was approached for the film almost two years ago but there has been no conversation on the dates since. So how does the question of me not having time for the film or walking out of it come from?" He added, "It's a mystery even I'd like to solve and find these well-wishers who are speaking on my behalf without my knowledge."

Irrfan is currently in New York shooting for his next Hollywood project 'Puzzle'. He was praised for his amazing performance in the recently released ‘Hindi Medium’ which has been well received all over the country and was even made tax free in many states.
