Juhi Chaturvedi: ‘Let Everybody Else Make Films, I Will Just Write’
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:00 AM ISTVery well said that the role of a writer not to say what we all can say, but what we’re unable to say and Juhi Chaturvedi being a writer did definitely convey what we all could never explain. Sticking to her passion of writing, Juhi is not at all willing to direct any films. After supporting director Shoojit Sircar by phenomenal scripts for his movies Vicky Donor and Piku, she has no plans of getting a director seat for herself.
Chaturvedi gave extraordinary characters like fertility expert Dr. Baldev Chaddha played by Annu Kapoor in Vicky Donor and a cranky old Bengali widower Bhaskor Banerji essayed by Amitabh Bachchan in Piku. Juhi said, “If everybody becomes a director, who will write? Let everybody else make films, I will just write”.
Debuted as a scriptwriter from the movie Vicky Donor in 2012, she thinks that good writers always existed but the story is now given more importance. Believing that praises from audience have resulted in a change in people’s mindset, she even shared, “It is not that the writers have suddenly become better, but writing has become everybody's focal point, which probably wasn't happening earlier. The ones which were happening, we used to label them 'art films'”.
