Karisma Kapoor celebrates her 39th birthday today

Today is a day of celebration in Karisma Kapoor’s life as she has grown a year older, turning 39. The elder daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita, Karisma, an acclaimed Bollywood actress herself, enjoys a huge filmy family background, being the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor, great-granddaughter of Prithviraj Kapoor, grand-niece of Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, sister of actress Kareena Kapoor, niece of Rishi Kapoor and cousin of Ranbir Kapoor.

She was a queen of hearts during 90s and early 2000. After debuting with Prem Qaidi in 1991 she gained huge success from films like Raja Hindustani in 1996 opposite Aamir Khan, which also helped her win maiden Filmfare Best Actress Award and Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997 opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit, with which she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other successful projects include Biwi No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United and Jaanwar. In 2000 she bagged her second Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in Hrithik Roshan starrer Fiza.

In 2001 she received huge critical acclaim for her role in Shyam Benegal's Zubeidaa and also won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. Recently after a long gap she made a comeback to Bollywood with Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishhq. In her personal life after breaking up from Abhishek Bachchan, she got married to industrialist Sunjay Kapur in 2003 and is a mother to two children. As reported by a daily she will celebrate her birthday in London as she did last year. Her children Samaira and Kiaan and her lovely sister Kareena will be accompanying her to the British capital. And to follow the Kapoor traditions of love for diamonds, Bebo has planned to gift an exquisite diamond bracelet to her darling sister on her birthday.
