Laxmi to portray Nagesh Kukunoor as a pimp

There are very few eminent personalities in Bollywood who don’t mind facing the camera once in a blue moon and the critically acclaimed filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor belongs to this distinguished class. The filmmaker, who holds a special stature at the B-town for his films likeIqbalandDor, will be seen in his next directorial ventureLaxmi, playing a pimp.

The filmmaker said, "The film is in post-production stage. I am planning to send it to various national and international film festivals. I am acting in the film after a long time. I play a pimp.” The film isall about the life of a child prostitute, who struggles with life to become a mature woman, setting an example for many. Asked if the film is based on any true story of a prostitute, he said: "No, it is not an individual's story. Rather, I have taken inspiration from many. Extensive research work has been done." He stated more, "The film highlights a woman's emotions and the difficult circumstances she goes through. It also highlights the cruel realities of life. I'd say its a fictional account of real stories. Ram Kapoor and Shefali Shah will play the leads."

Apart from the film, Kukunoor is all set to judgeMission Covershot, a weekly programme on the National Geographic channel, which will be telecast from March 25. He also commented on the show as, "The show has a unique concept. It provides eight ametuer photographers a chance to take their best shots in picturesque Sri Lanka and to get them published.”
