Rajkumar Santoshi shifts from comedy to vintage political recall

After experimenting with a lot many genres, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi will now be hitting hard on screen with an action packed film based on Hindu Muslim relations during the partition of India. The director has worked as writer and producer in many films and is at present geared for the release of his upcoming film Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, scheduled to release on September 20.

The maker revealed that to make a film on this topic was an old plan but was postponed, "I made `Khakee`, then I made `Ajab...`. After that, I was actually planning for a hard-hitting action film with Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), Anil ... but due to some problem, the film was put on hold." Phata Poster Nikhla Hero is an action comedy film starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz in lead roles. His film is produced by Ramesh Taurani along with Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
