RANI ON RANI: ‘Mardaani’ is reel, I am romantic

The first flavor of character that we picture the beautiful Rani Mukerji in is of course full of romance. The 36 year old recently married actress has over the years portrayed some of the most mesmerizing romantic roles but now here she is, full of action, full of strength and full of ‘Mardaani’ as she puts it. The forthcoming movie may show the actress as a hard liner cop but she believes herself to be a romantic from heart always.

When asked Rani if she’s going too far from her style of trademark genre, the bangla beauty said she’s linked to that SRK style of romance and can never get it out of her. “I am married to the source of all romance. The romance ofShah Rukh Khan, one can remember the roles and films all written by my husband. I am married to the source of SRK’s romance. He is the one who has written Raj, he is the one who created Raj. Though he is much into work et al, he is the source of proto romance in the industry,” she said. On being asked if her character’s on the same note of her previous 2011’s No One Killed Jessica, she said, “No it is not. I have only taken films that have come my way. Actors don’t choose to do anything. We actors are never role makers. It is the writers; when they write a character, they visualize whom they want to cast for the role. Probably I have reached a stage where the director and writer have seen that side of personality to come to me with a role like this.”

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Mardaani is already creating heavy buzz amidst cinema lovers thanks to its hard hitting promos and Rani Mukerji’s comeback post marriage. The film has Rani playing a Mumbaikar cop and is all set to hit the screens on August 22^nd.
