RGV lands in legal trouble

While he is already going through a bad phase of his career with consecutive flops like Department and Rakta Charitra, controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now been served a legal notice by his friend-turned-foe producer Bharat Shah. According to reports, on the complaints of Shah that RGV is denying to pay him Rs 20 crores which is due on him, the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP) has sent a legal notice to the director. According to sources, Shah had paid Rs 10 crore to RGV and now the amount has doubled to over Rs 20 crore with interest over the years but Varma is refusing to pay the interest. The source said, "RGV has not returned the principal amount also saying he hasn't recovered the money after the release of the films Bharat bhai had invested in. So Shah is pursuing the matter legally against RGV now." Confirming the news, advocate for AMPTPP -- Atul Mankame -- said, "Mr Shah had lodged a complaint against Mr Varma to recover his money. The filmmaker had responded by filing a suit against him in the City Civil Court, Dindoshi. Last year, the Honourable Court referred the matter to AMPTPP. It's been a year and Mr Varma's office has not reverted on the issue. So, AMPTPP issued a notice to Mr Varma, asking him to contact the association in person or through his representative.
