Why Rohit Roy put on eight kilos!

Bollywood actor Rohit Roy is all kicked about his upcoming TV outing Peterson Hill, where he will be seen in a fun and quirky role. However, Roy is also worried that he’ll have a tough time shedding the kilos that he put on to fit into the character. The 46-year-old had to pile on eight kilos for his role of a station manager that he will be portraying in the comedy drama that was recently shot in the scenic locales of Shimla.

Talking about it, Roy says, “For the character, I had to put on eight kilos so that it looks kind of cute and approachable. One may think, what’s the big deal about putting on weight? But how am I going to shed it now?” A fitness freak, Roy who has been part of hits including Kaante (2002), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) and Fashion (2008), laughs, adding, “This is the toughest thing I have had to do especially when I have been a fitness enthusiast all my life. I am happy that I am prepping for the role, but I’m also a bit worried.”

The once pin-up boy of television in the 90s, Roy rose to fame playing the pivotal character of Rishabh Malhotra in the cult show Swabhimaan (1995) on Doordarshan. The show was regarded as one of the turning points of Indian television and one of the first daily soaps that featured complexities of relationships. Roy was last seen playing a tough cop in the crime series, Encounter on Sony TV. He also hosted the reality TV show The bachelorette India - Mere khayalon ki Malika that featured Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat. His current show, Peterson Hill is written, produced and directed by noted televison director and script writer Ashwani Dhir.
