Salman Khan’s appeal against ABP News channel sails through Bombay High Court

One of the leading news channels of our country, ABP News channel has received a High Court order to restrain themselves from telecasting any news item that would defame Bollywood actor Salman Khan in future. Salman filed a petition at the Bombay High Court seeking a written apology from the news channel after it telecast news that degraded the actor’s image. Justice S. J. Kathawalla, who was hearing the lawsuit, passed the judgement in favour of Salman Khan.

Though the channel’s broadcasting has got an interim relief, according to Justice Kathawala, "I am prima facie satisfied that the Defendants (ABP News) are indulging in broadcasting defamatory allegations against the Plaintiff (Salman) which are likely to prejudice the Plaintiff in defence to the pending proceedings before the Sessions Court." Further hearing on the suit will take place tomorrow.
