Salman’s trial under Arms Act to resume on July 20

The trail of Salman Khan under the Arms Act has been put off till July 20 in the court of chief judicial magistrate. The Dabangg star challenged the lower court’s verdict in Rajasthan High Court. Because of the stay ordered by the high court, the trial cannot begin until the criminal miscellaneous petition gets decided.

“We had moved a criminal miscellaneous petition in the High Court seeking permission to call 5 prosecution witnesses for re-examination. The court allowed the same on May 28 and stayed the hearing in the trial court”, said H.M. Saraswat. He added, "Now, until the high court decides the criminal miscellaneous petition, there will be no progress in case before the trial court".

Salman had appeared before the court on April 29 for recording his statement. The court then allowed him some time to produce evidence of his innocence on May 4. Mahipal Bishnoi - the government counsel – said that until an order is passed by the high court on the defense's criminal miscellaneous petition, there will be delay of about three months.
