Box Office: Does The 3 Day Number Of Tubelight Indicate That Salman Khan Might Have A Flop In His Hands After Years?
Updated : June 26, 2017 07:26 PM ISTSalman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight is finding it tough to get going at the box office. The business figures of his big release indicate that he may end up having a flop on his hands.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the opening weekend numbers of Tubelight on Monday and they are far below expectations. He says that the film collected Rs 64.77 crore in the first three days of its release. The Kabir Khan directorial hit the screens on Friday, June 24.
#Tubelight Fri 21.15 cr, Sat 21.17 cr, Sun 22.45 cr. Total: ₹ 64.77 cr. India biz... Eid festivities should boost biz today + tomorrow.

These numbers are less than the opening weekend earnings of last five Eid releases of Salman Khan. In fact, Tubelight’s first weekend collection is a whopping Rs 19 crore less than his 2014 hit, Kick (Rs 83.83 cr), which is at number 4 in this list.

2015: #BB ₹ 102.60 cr [Fri-Sun]
2016: #Sultan ₹ 105.53 cr [Wed-Sun]
2017: #Tubelight ₹ 64.77 cr [Fri-Sun]
Rumoured to be made at a budget of Rs 100 crore, Tubelight needs to make at least Rs 40 crore on Eid, which is a holiday, to stay in the game. However, its problems will not end there as weekdays will start after that. The overall numbers need to cross Rs 155-160 crore to turn a profit as entertainment tax and other factors will also come into the play.

The film, which also stars Chinese actor Zhu Zhu and Sohail Khan, is solely dependent on Salman Khan’s charm as it didn’t get many favourable reviews.
