Sayani Gupta freaked out when offered the role of a cricket analyst

Sayani Gupta might not be an ardent cricket fan, but she is definitely excited to be portraying the character of a cricket analyst in a web series. However, the 28-year-old was apprehensive about the role being offered to her, as there are not many female cricket analysts in India.

“Honestly I was freaking out when the director, Karan Anshuman, asked me to play this technically sound character, who knows so much about cricket. I play the character of Rohini, who is the team analyst, she is the brain behind the team. It’s very rare in our country, but abroad, the trend of having a female cricket analyst is normal. So, I actually had to figure out the technicalities behind the game,” says Sayani.

Preparing for the role did not come easy to Sayani, who has been reaching out to her friends, who are cricket enthusiasts, to help her understand the game better. “It’s tough. Cricket is a very complex game and only if you have followed it for a long time, you would understand it completely. Although it was very challenging, it was also fun to play this character in the web series. She is such a geek and so effortlessly brilliant,” adds Sayani.
