SRK tops Forbes India Celebrity list

Highest earnings help superstar Shah Rukh Khan bag one more benchmark in his life as he has topped the inaugural Forbes India Celebrity 100 list. It has been reported that between October 2011 and September 2012, SRK’s income amounted to Rs. 202.8 crore. The list, a ranking of India's biggest entertainers based on their income and popularity, featured actor Salman Khan and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the second and third spot, respectively.

The other popular celebrities who were listed among the top ten were Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Kareena Kapoor, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Katrina Kaif. Though Shah Rukh lags behind Salman and Dhoni when it comes to the question of popularity and fame, his highest grossing earning power, chiefly from brand endorsements, helped him emerge as the winner, according to the official website of the magazine. Composer A.R. Rahman, leading TV personality Malaika Arora Khan, director Karan Johar, author Chetan Bhagat, comedian Vir Das and model Esha Gupta topped in their respective categories. Among 12 youngsters, including Virat Kohli, Anusukha Sharma and Sania Mirza who have made to the top 50, 23-year-old Saina Nehwal was the youngest celebrity on the list. Wait begins for the special edition of the magazine that will hit the market on Saturday.
