Sunny takes on Salman as ‘Ghayal Once Again’ locks Diwali for release

While the makers of Rajshri’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo were reassured of the vacant Diwali release slot, Sunny Deol and company has come to tear down all their hopes. The makers of Sunny Deol’s Ghayal Once Again (previously tilted Ghayal Returns) have apparently booked this Diwali for the release of the film and will now lock horns with Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

The Sooraj Barjatya directorial was earlier facing no competition but the release of Ghayal Once Again will make them prepare for a potentially strong contest. As Sunny reprises his character from his 1990 blockbuster Ghayal, he is also wearing the director’s hat for this one. The film is reportedly in its last leg of shooting and will wrap things up by next month. Meanwhile, Salman-Sonam starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is few weeks shy of its wrapping up and is currently being shot in Rajasthan.

With Christmas, Eid and all major release slots already occupied, it turns out to be a pretty tricky situation for the producers to pick an apt release date. As audience round the globe this Diwali will have two diverse genres of action and drama to choose from, let’s see if either of the two releases happen to make any dent in each other’s biz.
