She stopped working in films ever since her marriage but her quirky words always ensure that Twinkle Khanna is no less in news than her husband and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. At an award function held Wednesday night, Akshay made a solo appearance but it was Twinkle who stole the limelight.

After receiving the Man of the Decade award at Vogue Beauty Awards 2017, Akshay said, “My wife has given me a speech. So I will have to say this. Bear with me. They say that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder but I say beauty is whoever let you hold her. I would like to thank Vogue for this award. To my overpaid trainer and my underpaid cook, a big thank you for helping me maintain this beautiful ‘Man of the Decade’ body which I have.”

He went on to add, “Though part of the credit should also go to the fact that I did not have two carry my two children for nine whole months. And thus my stomach did not have to stretch to elephantine proportions, and then deflate to a small paunch with stretch marks and saggy skin that no amount of dieting can eradicate.” The best was still to come: “It’s time for me to wind this up because it’s really not fair that I always reach home late, and I should not take anyone so much for granted. But before I leave I would once again like to thank my beautiful, talented wife,”

On the work front, Akshay is gearing up for the release of Toilet Ek Prem Katha, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The movie is slated to hit the big screens on August 11.

He has also begun work on Reema Kagti’s Gold that also stars Amit Sadh. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Mouni Roy and is slated for an August 2018 release.
