Veteran beauty Rati Agnihotri becomes a victim of domestic violence

Yesteryear actress Rati Agnihotri who rose to fame with 1981 blockbuster Ek Duje Ke Liye, recently lodged a complaint against her husband Anil Virmani. According to a senior police official, "Rati Agnihotri, who married Anil Virwani in 1985 filed complaint against him on March 14 saying he had mentally tortured her besides assaulting her physically."

Though, the couple has been married for 30 years, but their marital life has been marred by problems after Rati's husband incurred huge losses in his business. "A case has been registered against Virwani under IPC sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 350 (use of criminal force) and 506 (criminal intimidation)," confirmed Jaykumar, DCP.

The veteran actress has been staying in Worli, Mumbai with her architect-businessman husband and 28-year old son Tanuj. "She did not mention any specific reason as to why her husband tortured and thrashed her," elaborated Jaykumar, adding, "We will investigate the case and appropriate action would be initiated." 54-year old Rati Agnihotri was last seen in the Lal Bahadur Shastri biopic titled Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan.
