Vidya Balan pays tribute to detective Karamchand through her Bobby Jasoos character

Kahaani actress Vidya Balan is back to action in full swing with her lady detective character in Bobby Jasoos. The actress revealed that her character in the movie is intended to pay a tribute to prominent Indian detective Karamchand and this character was played by veteran actor Pankaj Kapur.

During the ‘80s Karamchand used to be a popular Indian detective TV series. The actress said, “Karamchand was probably the only one on the horizon until one got exposed to detective films later. We have even paid tribute to Karamchand and his assistant ‘Kitty’ in one of the dialogues in the film.” The actress added in her statement, “During the workshop (for the film), I remember acting like Karamchand. When I met Pankaj Kapur, I wanted to say, ‘Bobby Karamchand ki chhati aulad hai’, but I did not.” Recently in a party hosted by Supriya Pathak, Vidya met face-to-face with Pankaj “Karamchand” Kapur. Set in Hyderabad, Bobby Jasoos will show Vidya as a fluent Hyderabadi language speaking woman. Directed by Samar Shaikh, the film, also starring Ali Fazal, Supriya and Tanvi Azmi, is set to release on July 4.
