Zoya Akhtar Branches Out Of Excel Entertainment, Starts Her Own Production House

Director Zoya Akhtar has gone a la Pooja Bhatt. Confused what we are talking about. After directing movies such as ‘Luck By Chance’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ which were produced by her brother Farhan Akhtar and partner Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment, Zoya has now another feather in her cap.

She has parted with Farhan and Ritesh and started her own production house Tiger Baby Productions. Though all her movies have been produced by Excel Entertainment, but it is believed that she parted her ways with them because of some difference. Her next film ‘Gully Boy’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is also produced by Tiger Baby. However, Farhan and Ritesh will co-produce the film as Farhan wants to be a part of his sister’s career.

“Farhan wants to be a part of his sister’s film and hence he offered to be the co-producer. Zoya has agreed because of a personal equation with her brother. But, she has professional differences with Ritesh and Farhan and hence does not want to mix her drinks,” says a source.

So let us remind you that Pooja Bhatt also branched out of her father and uncle’s production house Vishesh Films banner and started her own production house Pooja Bhatt Productions and then Fish Eye Network at the age of 23.
