All New Star Cast for True Detective Season 2

The new season of True Detective will involve a completely different star cast than the previous season. True Detective season 1 featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the lead characters. This time around the series will have three law-enforcement officers played by Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. The first episode was aired on June 21.

According to USA Today, Ray Velcoro, played by Colin Farrell, is a corrupt officer who, in a way, justifies the dark aesthetic of the show. Vince Vaughn plays the role of a crime boss named Frank Semyon. Vaughn, in an interview with Playboy, said, “Nic Pizzolatto is such a great writer, and so much of this is driven by his stories”. He further added, “I thought Woody and Matthew did an exceptional job with the first season. This one’s very different, though. It’s a totally different story, with its own characters. The thing that’s consistent is the richness of the characters and the quality of the material”. 

The new season is created by Nic Pizzolatto who also wrote and created the first season. True Detective season 1 was one of HBO’s most watched shows with 11.9 million viewers. Season 1 won several awards including ‘Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries, and Specials’, ‘Outstanding Main Title Design’ and ‘Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series’, to name a few.
