B. J. Novak, Michael Keaton to star in McDonald’s biopic
Updated : April 06, 2016 10:59 AM IST B. J. Novak and Michael Keaton have been casted for the upcoming McDonald’s biopic called ‘The founder’. Keaton is to play the lead role of Ray Kroc, the Illinois-born businessman who turns a small burger restaurant into the biggest fast-food empire of the world. On the other hand, Novak will play a rising McDonald’s executive, who is a protege of Kroc.
The script of the film is to be penned by Robert Siegel, who was earlier acclaimed for projects that include Darren Aronofsky's ‘The Wrestler’ and his own directorial ‘Big Fan’. The script will be an adaptation of a novel of the same name. The flick is expected to be a series drama similar to ‘The Social Network ‘and ‘There Will Be Blood’. The movie will reveal the origin and the truth behind the leading fast-food chain in the world.
The movie also stars Nick Offerman and Laura Dern (as Ray Kroc’s wife. Acclaimed for projects such as ‘The Rooki’e and ‘The Blind Side’, John Lee Hancock will direct this biographical film. As of now, the movie is scheduled to release next year in November.
