Fantastic Four Tanks at the Box Office

Starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, Fantastic Four barely scratched the surface with its $26.2 million opening. The flick was expected to make around $40 million. The previous two Fantastic Four films made more than double of what this year’s instalment grossed.

The 2005 film Fantastic Four made $56.1 million on its opening weekend and the 2007 film Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer made $58.1 million. Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation which was on screen for its second weekend made $29.4 million which make a domestic total of $108.7 million in 10 days. The third spot was claimed by The Gift starring Joel Edgerton, who also directed the movie. It grossed around $12 million.

Vacation starring Chevy Chase, Ed Helms and Chris Hemsworth made $9.2 million and is fourth at the box office. Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd also made the top five with its $7.8 million. Ricki and the Flash and Shaun the Sheep Movie made $7 million and $4 million respectively over the weekend.
