Fox Searchlight Gives Emma Stone Starrer ‘Battle of the Sexes’ Award Season Debut

Fans are you listening? Emma Stone’s Billie Jean King Biopic has an awards season release date now. The biopic, which is titled ‘Battle of the Sexes’ features Emma Stone as Billie Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs. Fox Searchlight has given the awards season debut to the film, which is scripted by Simon Beaufoy.

The film has been jointly produced by Danny Boyle, under his home banner Decibel Film and Christian Colson, under his production company Cloud Eight. The other cast of the film includes Andrea Riseborough as Marilyn Barnett, King’s hairdresser and lover; Elisabeth Shue as Riggs’ wife. Also, Austin Stowell, will be seen playing King’s husband; Sarah Silverman as Gladys Heldman, the founder of World Tennis magazine; Natalie Morales is essaying the role of a tennis player Rosie Casals; and Jessica McNamee will be seen playing tennis player Margaret Court.

Helmed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the film is set to premier on September 22. However, this biopic will be Stone’s first debut after she bagged best actress at this year’s Academy Awards. Alongside ‘Battle of the Sexes’, ‘Granite Mountain,’ and Warner Bros. animated film ‘Ninjago, will be launched.
