Johnny Depp to be honoured with maiden distinguished artisan award from Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild

A piece of great news has arrived for Hollywood actor Johnny Depp’s diehard fans that he will receive the first ever illustrious artisan award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild, Local 706. After a decade’s gap the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards ceremony is marking its comeback on February 15 at Paramount Studios.

This special award is given to those film personalities who blend their make-up and hairstyles with artistic consistency throughout their career creating some memorable onscreen characters in the film industry. The President of the guild, Susan Cabral-Ebert, issued a statement saying, “Make-up and hair artisans agree that Johnny Depp is a wonderful selection to receive our first Distinguished Artisan Award.” Susan added, “He, probably more than any other actor working today, uses the skills of our members to delineate his characters…A great artist himself, he allows others to shine.” Some of the movies, which showed off Depp’s notable characters with excellent make-up creativity, are Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland and his latest Oscar-nominated The Lone Ranger, to name quite a few.
