Mahershala Ali Tapped To Star In Crime Thriller ‘Burn’

Anonymous Content has acquired the rights of A J Wolfe’s book ‘Burn’. The crime thriller will star Oscar winning actor Mahershala Ali. Apart from acting, Ali will also executive produce the flick.

It is being reported that Fredrick Kotto, a former detective who has become a screenwriter, will be writing the adaptation and will also executive produce the film. Apart from Fredrick and Mahershala, Artillery Creative’s Tom Carter will also executive produce it. Anonymous Content’s Nicole Clemens and Kevin Cotter will produce the project.

Set in the ultra-violent world of organized crime, ‘Burn’ is a contemporary crime thriller and a love story. The story revolves around a detective from Northern California who destroys a cartel while keeping his undercover life secret from his family. Mahershala won the Academy Award this year for playing the role of Juan in Barry Jenkins’ ‘Moonlight’. He will next be seen in the Participant Films drama ‘Green Book’ and the third season of police anthology series ‘True Detective’.
