Man of Steel to cross $125 million in its opening weekend at domestic box-office?

This could perhaps be the second-best opening of this summer for Man of Steel if it crosses $125 million in its very first weekend in North America. As it rolled out on Thursday night, it started with a collection of $21 million.

The earnings also included $12 million, earned from some special screenings by Walmart and $9 million from midnight shows. In the Superman’s origin feature film, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, Henry Cavill has shone as Clark Kent alias Superman, who conceals his superpowers from the outside world and strives to lead a normal life. While the character of Lois Lane has been portrayed by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon has given his best to the jeopardising character of General Zod.

After gaining huge success from his Batman franchise, the Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan has again become highly booming as a producer of the Superman project. In the overseas market, Man of Steel has been the frontrunner in Philippines and Taiwan, where it grossed $1.7 million and $794,742 respectively after opening on Wednesday. Among other potential markets, it has opened in U.K. and Mexico on Friday. The coming weekend will see Superman hitting the markets of China, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and twenty more.
