Mantis Joins Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

Following the recent report that French actress Pom Klementieff will be joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Deadline has reported that Pom will be playing the role of Mantis. The character was first introduced in the 1973 comic Avengers #112 and was created by Steve Englehart and Don Heck.

Mantis also made an appearance in the 1977 Justice League of America #142 where she said, “This one has come from a place she must not name.... to reach a place no man must know”. Mantis was raised by Kree priests and was given telepathic powers. She had exceptional martial arts skill as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will bring back Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper in their iconic roles from the first part. Directed by James Gunn, the movie is planned for a release on May 5, 2017. The movie will be produced by Kevin Feige.
