Updated : July 13, 2018 01:42 PM IST Yes, you heard it right. Academy Award-winning actor Mark Rylance has been confirmed to star in the Hollywood adaptation of J.M.Coetzee's 'Waiting for the Barbarians'. The actor will be playing the part of the narrator in the film, reports suggest.
The project will be produced and financed by Andrea Iervolino's TaTaTu. "There is no one better suited or better equipped than Mark Rylance for a role as complex as that of the Magistrate in Waiting for the Barbarians," adding "The story is his to own and bring to life in a way that only he can," Iervolino said.
In the movie, Mark Rylance is a magistrate in dilemma about his role in the post-emergency state of the country. Moreover, it is notable that the book has been already adapted as an opera by Philip Glass. Other than this, the movie is directed by the academy award winner Ciro Guerra.
