Michael Jackson’s Father Joe Jackson Passes Away At 89

Father of music legend Michael Jackson, Joe Jackson passed away on Wednesday after being hospitalised for terminal pancreatic cancer. Janet’s father was 89-year old. It was Taj Jackson, Joe’s grandson, who confirmed his death in a tweet. According to a report in the BBC, he died two days after the death anniversary of Michael Jackson.

As per the reports, Joe Jackson is survived by Katherine, 88, and nine of his 11 children. Five sons, who are Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael, joined at times by younger brother Randy, who also pursued a solo career. He also has three daughters – LaToya, Rebbie, and Janet – all fashioned their own pop careers under Jackson’s management, with varying levels of recognition.

According to other media reports, some members of the family were not allowed to see Joe Jackson in his final days. Jermaine Jackson said to the Daily Mail, “No one knew what was going on — we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this. We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture”.
