The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have released the nominees for the technical categories for the 2019 Oscar
so while we have to wait to see which movies will be nominated for best picture lets take a look the top 10 movies that are more than likely to be nominated.
While there were a ton of good movies this year the movies with stars and even bigger studios backing them will have an easier
go at it however the smaller movies have always given them stiff competition and on more than one occasion won.
some of these movies you may have seen or heard of but some are sure to surprise you.
Starting off our list a film by Oscar winner Damien Chazelle and stars Ryan Gosling.' First Man' is a biographical drama about Neil Armstrong and focuses on the period in his life before his mission to the moon and the strain that it puts on him and his family, with compelling performances First Man, is an amazing movie.

The second movie on our list is the horror movie 'Hereditary' directed by Ari Aster and stars Toni Collette, unlike a lot of horror films does not rely on jump scares and focuses on creating an atmosphere that just chills you, The film follows the incidents that happen in a family after the death of its oldest member. while horror films have a tough time at the Oscars this one certainly deserves to be a contender.

At the third spot, we have the musical romantic drama 'A Star is Born ' directed by Bradley Cooper and staring him and Lady Gaga in the lead and follows two singers, with strong performances and some amazing songs the movie will stay with you long after you leave the cinema.

At Number four we have 'Blackkklansman' directed by Spike Lee and starring John David Washington and Adam Driver and follows the true story of the first African-American police detective in Colorada and his investigation into the hate group 'The KKK' in the 1970s drawing parallels with today's political climate and adding a few dashes of humor the film a powerhouse and one of the strongest contenders on this list.

In the fifth spot is 'Leave No Trance' is a drama directed by Debra Granik and stars Ben Foster the story follows a war veteran who has severe PTSD and decides to live in the woods with his young daughter. The film has some of the most powerful performances you will ever see and is a tragic and haunting tale.

At Number 6 we have 'The Favorite' a historical drama directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone who plays as cousins both trying to the queen's favorite lady in waiting. Strong performances and incredible pacing not to mention the great chemistry between the leads the film more than earns its place among the top films of the year.

At the seventh spot, we have biographical drama 'Green Book' directed by Peter Farrelly and stars Viggo Mortenson and Mahershala Ali as a jazz musician and his driver who are touring the deep south during the 1960s. Both actors share an amazing chemistry and with a solid a screenplay this one of the most enjoyable and well-made movies of the year.

At the number eight spot, we have the biographical comedy drama 'Vice' the film stars Christian Bale and is directed by Adam Mckay and follows the life of former US Vice President Dick Chaney. Christain Bale gives one of the best performances of his career and steals every scene along with some doses of good humor, this is one of Adam Mckay best films.

At Number nine we have 'A Quiet Place' directed and starring John Krasinski along with Emily Blunt. In this post-apocalyptic thriller, we follow a family of four as they try and survive and get hunted down an alien race that hunts by sound. Chilling, well paced and with some incredible performances the movie will keep you glued to screen till the end.

And finally, at the number ten spot, we have 'Annihilation' Directed by Alex Garland and Staring Natalie Portman and Oscar Issac this science fiction thriller follows a group of scientists exploring a strange and newly ecological zone. Visually breathtaking the film will you amazed, the pacing and plot of the film are increasable well written and directed while Sci-fi thrillers have a hard time during the Oscar season, this one will surely break through,
