Playing Spider-Man Was Not All That Andrew Garfield Hoped For
Updated : December 01, 2016 05:02 PM IST Andrew Garfield played Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, namely ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. Andrew had always loved the character and getting the opportunity to play him was great but, he later realised that it wasn’t all that he hoped it would be. The actor recently shared his thoughts on playing the web-slinger and said that it was a little “heartbreaking”.
The Hacksaw Ridge actor revealed that the story and the character were not the most important aspect of the movie. “The story and the character were actually not the top of the priority list, ultimately. I found that really, really tricky. I signed up to serve the story, and to serve this incredible character that I’ve been dressing as since I was three, and then it gets compromised and it breaks your heart”, he said.
Andrew feels that he may have been too young to play the character at that time. The actor was recently on the big screen in ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ which was directed by Mel Gibson. He will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ which will hit theatres in January, next year.
