Quentin Tarantino poses legal threat to media outlet for copyright infringement issues

Academy Award winner-Pulp Fiction maker Quentin Tarantino has reportedly filed a legal complaint in a U.S. district court against media outlet Gawker charging them of copyright infringement after the website allegedly published some links giving access to download the script of his latest project, The Hateful Eight.
The application has been filed at the court on Monday and director Tarantino claimed that Gawker Media endorsed and circulated "unauthorized downloadable copies of the leaked unreleased complete screenplay." As a compensation package the filmmaker has demanded a hefty sum of more than $1 million. The lawsuit also sues another website, AnonFiles.com, which is hyperlinked to Gawker website and it contains the leaked downloadable 146-page script of the film. The website allows its visitors to upload and download files without disclosing their names and as far as its terms and conditions are concerned the website assures zero security to its users as they can be held accountable for any "illegal and/or copyright infringement material."

The conditions also warn, "do not upload anything that violates local law. Illegal files will be removed." Till Monday the story along with the illegal links was present on the website which was published on January 23. Gawker’s founder Nick Denton refused to respond immediately. The 50-year-old filmmaker is also popular for his films like Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds, Sin City, Kill Bill and many more which mostly blend dark humour with violence. It has been described in detail in the lawsuit how Tarantino first came to know about the leaked script on January 21 and then he discussed the issue in an interview with an entertainment portal. Tarantino was "very, very depressed" at the unfortunate incident and also scrapped the project later.
