Sean Bean joins cast of The Martian

Actor Sean Bean has reportedly been roped in to play a pivotal role in Ridley Scott's upcoming film based on Andy Weir's book-The Martian. The actor has thus joined a cast that includes Matt Damon, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig and Jessica Chastain.

The outer space adventure revolves around an astronaut named Mark Watney who becomes stranded on Mars and struggles to survive. The astronaut could not connect to Earth and hopes that a rescue mission by NASA would find him out, some day.

According to the latest reports, Damon will portray the role of the astronaut and Sean Bean would be playing the role of NASA's flight director in the movie.

Bean would soon also be appearing in crime drama Legends and sci-fi epic Jupiter. The actor has recently finished with Pixels, the Adam Sandler comedy which is slated to release on July 24, 2015.
