Shakira’s Loca infringed copyright laws

New York’s federal judge Alvin Hellerstein discovered that the hit song executed by Colombian pop star Shakira was in a roundabout way mocked from another songwriter's effort.

According to the judge, Shakira's Spanish-language adaptation of Loca in 2010 had contravened on a song by Dominican singer Ramon Arias Vazquez. Her English language edition of Loca - which facets Dizzee Rascal - was "not offered into evidence" at the trial.

The Spanish language version - an association with Dominican rapper Eduard Edwin Bello Pou, well known as El Cata - was extensively released as a single worldwide. It sold more than five million copies and peaked Billboard Magazine's Latin charts.

As per the ruling written by the judge, "There is no dispute that Shakira's version of the song was based on Bello's version."
