Steven Spielberg to head the jury panel of Cannes Film Festival

The Oscar-winning director, Steven Spielberg, will be heading the Cannes Film Festival jury, as announced by the Festival organizers on Thursday. The director has regularly attended the international film festival and his first filmSugarland Express, won the best screenplay award in1974 at Cannes Film Festival. The66th Cannes Film Festival willprogress fromMay 15 till May 26.
TheOscar-winner made a statement, “My admiration for the steadfast mission of the Festival to champion the international language of movies is second to none. The most prestigious of its kind, the festival has always established the motion picture as a cross cultural and generational medium.”
The President of the festival, Gilles Jacob told that he had asked Steven to be the Jury President many times but film making always kept him busy. But this year, he finally agreed.
