The Passion of the Christ Sequel In The Making

The 2004 biblical drama ‘The Passion of the Christ’ was directed by Mel Gibson and went on to become a blockbuster. Mel is once again teaming up with writer Randall Wallace for the sequel of the film. The sequel will focus on the resurrection of Jesus.

Talking about the project, Randall stated, “I always wanted to tell this story. The Passion is the beginning and there’s a lot more story to tell”. The writer was a religion major at Duke University. He added, “The evangelical community considers The Passion the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger”.

The original film starred Jim Caviezel as Jesus of Nazaareth, Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdalene and Maia Morgenstern as Mary. The cast also included Rosalinda Celentano, Claudia Gerini, Hristo Shopov and Christo Jivkov. ‘The Passion of the Christ’ pooled in more than $611 million worldwide.
