Tom Cruise in early talks to star in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Joel Edgerton, Bradley Cooper, Johnny Depp and few more featured in the wish list forThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.without any closed deal and finally it seems the movie has got a A-lister in the lead role. Tom Cruise, who has enlisted series’ likeMission: ImpossibleandJack Reacherin his name, is in negotiations to star in the film which will be directed bySherlock Holmeshelmer Guy Ritchie.

The film is based on the original TV series which ran from 1964-68 with Robert Vaughan and David McCallum in lead roles. Warner Bros. has been eyeing the project for a long time, especially when the studio had Steven Soderbergh as the director and George Clooney in the lead. But sadly Clooney could not make it because he needed surgery on his neck and back. After Soderbergh also quit the job, the project was given to Ritchie and his producing partner Lionel Wigram.

Warner Bros. began talks with Cruise privately after he completedAll You Need Is Killwith director Doug Liman. Cruise will be seen next in the Joseph Kosinski-directedOblivionfor Universal Pictures which will be released on April 19.
