Tommy Lee Jones Cast In Joe Wright's 'Stoner' Adaptation

Joe Wright announced last month that he has cast Academy Award winner Casey Affleck as the main lead for his next movie ‘Stoner’. And now it is reported that veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones has also been approached to star in the flick. The film is based on John Williams' 1965 novel.

Casey will essay the role of William Stoner, who is a dirt-poor farmer and turns into academic. He emerges as an unlikely existential hero while making his way through the first half of the 20th century. However, Tommy’s character is yet to be revealed.

The movie will be produced by Jason Blum, Charles S. Cohen of CMG and Daniel Battsek of Film4, while Ethan Hawke will serve as the executive producer. Andrew Bovell will pen down the script. Tommy Lee is currently shooting for James Gray-directed sci-fi Ad Astra alongside Brad Pitt. He will next be seen in the biography drama Shock and Awe. His action comedy Just Getting Started is ready to release on December 1.
