Mungaru Male 2 on the cards

After a long wait, Mungaru Male makers are finally considering to release its sequel. If reports are to be believed, Mungaru Male 2 is all set to go on floors as ace filmmaker Shashank has already penned the story. The sequel was apparently announced in the last year.

"When I was approached by the producer, I was reluctant. In fact, I did not want to touch the subject. I was okay with directing a film for Ganesh, but not to direct a sequel to Mungaru Male. But the producer persisted and in the end I had to relent", said Shashank.

"It was one of the 5-6 story ideas I had. After Bachchan, I did not work on any film for six months. The responsibility of my neice's marriage was on me. I am a kind of person who cannot work on two things at a time. So for six months, I had time to contemplate about films and refill my resources. The idea for this film came from one single statement one of my assistants made. The statement perfectly fit his character and the story germinated from it", the renowned filmmaker added.

Interestingly, the makers are planning to release the second instalment of the film on the 10th anniversary of the original Mungaru Male, which hit the screens on December 29, 2006. "The producer has sentimental value attached to the release date. He wants the film to be released on December 26 at any cost. But I am a sort of person who does not work to deadlines. If there is a deadline for anything, I cannot work. This is a challenge for me. Let us see how it pans out”, elaborated the director.
